The incident occurred just before midnight Saturday when a trolleys passenger fell onto the back of a moving vehicle, according to a release from the New England Transportation Authority (NEA).

The female passenger had just exited the passenger side of a truck and was walking across the interstate when she was struck by the trolley, according the release.

One of the passengers, a 42-year-old man from Connecticut, suffered a facial fracture and multiple facial injuries, the release said.

The other passenger, a 23-year old man from New York, suffered minor injuries and is expected to survive.

The accident caused traffic to be diverted from Interstate 95 into the New London area, according a NEA news release.
